FSO vs RSO: How to choose the right cannabis medicine for you

We’ve all been there. You walk into your neighborhood dispensary looking for the right cannabis medicine to help you feel better. But, how do you choose from an incredibly wide range of products and potency?

We’re here to help you navigate this wild world of cannabis medicine.

Let’s start by looking at two commonly confused products: Full Spectrum Oil (FSO) and Rick Simpson Oil (RSO).

First, a quick recap on the healing properties of cannabis: While most of us are familiar with THC and CBD, cannabis contains a true abundance of healing compounds called cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and phytonutrients. These different components work together to produce a more powerful healing outcome than they’ve been found to have independently. This healing outcome is known as the Entourage Effect. (Learn more about the Entourage Effect here and here)

How FSO & RSO are similar:

For starters, these two products are quite similar in how you use them. They are most often eaten directly for medicinal purposes or

used as an easy way to infuse your meal while maintaining control over your dose. While both can be dabbed, vaped, or used in a blunt, most patients wouldn’t smoke RSO as they use it for cancer-fighting purposes, more on that later.

Both Full Spectrum Oils and Rick Simpson Oils are potent oils extracted from cannabis. They are similar in consistency and look similar enough that they are often confused for one another. However, the compounds present in FSO and RSO are very different at very differing levels, making the distinction important for anyone using the products medicinally.

Full Spectrum Oils Optimize the Entourage Effect

Full Spectrum Oils maintain every component of the plant throughout the extraction process. From harvest to packaging, every step along the way is designed to protect every cannabinoid, terpene, flavonoid, and phytonutrient of the cannabis cultivar, as nature intended.

Because the profile of FSO is cultivar-specific, FSOs can address a wide range of different ailments depending on the cultivar(s) included in the oil. With an in-tact profile, Full Spectrum Oils optimize for the Entourage Effect, ultimately giving patients the most healing outcomes, helping them to feel better. Brands that produce Full Spectrum Oils while providing access to Certificates of Analysis for those FSOs show you exactly what’s in your medicine, allowing you to determine which product is right for you based on your health goals.

Rick Simpson Oils Specifically Fight Cancer

Rick Simpson Oils isolate specific cannabinoids to create hyper-potent cancer fighting formulas. These extracts are produced at a higher

temperature than FSOs in order to concentrate THC, burning off terpenes and other compounds in the plant through the manufacturing process. Anecdotal case studies report remarkable outcomes for patients using RSOs in conjunction with other cancer treatments.

How to choose what’s right for you:

It depends on your health goals. Unless you have cancer, Rick Simpson Oil may not deliver the most healing outcomes for you. If you have a different illness or alternative health objective, Full Spectrum Oils can deliver more balanced healing outcomes to address your bi

ggest health need while improving you overall well being and helping you to feel better.
